In the article we sent you fifteen minutes ago, we tried, with our limited graphic competence, to print the letter ' x' 46 times to show how many bills to increase pension amounts, terms and conditions, and eligibility requirements had been approved by the State Legislature in 2005. (Source - Daily News.) Unhappily, we printed 'x' 51 times, a scrivener's error, a slip of the finger.

We had the choice of whether or not to inform you of this error at once. Knowing our astute readers, we felt that many of you would correct us, with varying expressions of sympathy or derision over the error. We bit the bullet, and ask you to cross out one set of 5, xxxxx, that appears in the article.

We apologize to all of you, not to anyone who may have been offended, by the error. And we invite any of you who may have been distressed to accept a full refund of the sum you paid us to receive this issue. If you communicate with us, you may if you wish sign up for the Q list (links to newspaper columns), the W list (only one communication from us weekly), or W plus (W plus Q). We are thinking of establishing a P list, for political and personal matters unrelated to city government, (which we would only send to people who ask for it in advance), but, if you have gotten this far, you have read more than enough for one day, so we will hold our P.
