Applications Available for Affordable Housing Units Located in Bronx and Central Harlem

Eligible Annual Incomes Ranging from $15,920 to $157,000

The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is pleased to announce that applications are currently available for 3 newly constructed developments in the Bronx and in Central Harlem area. These new housing opportunities were financed by HDC as part of Mayor Bloomberg's affordable housing initiative, The New Housing Marketplace: Creating Housing for the Next Generation.

The first development is located at 1011 Washington Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx. This 117-unit development is funded through HDC's Low-Income Affordable Market-Place Program (LAMP). Initial rents range from $561 per month for studios up to $920 for three-bedroom apartments. Units are reserved for households with an annual income ranging from $19,200 to $43,600. (Incomes vary within these bounds depending on apartment size and family size).

Completed applications must be returned by regular mail only to a post office box number that will be listed on the application and must be postmarked no later than July 8, 2005.

Eligibility is based on income, family composition, as well as other factors. Tenants will be selected though a lottery system.

Also in the Bronx is Putnam Gardens II, a 44-unit building located at 3800 Putnam Avenue which is currently accepting applications. Putnam Gardens II is receiving financing through HDC's middle-income New Housing Opportunities Program (New HOP). Initial rents range from $905 a month for one-bedroom up to $1,250 for two-bedroom apartments. Units are reserved for households with an annual income ranging from $36,200 to $120,000. (Incomes vary within these bounds depending on apartment size and family size).

Applications are also available for 444 Manhattan Avenue in Central Harlem. This development was financed through HDC's Mixed-Income Program and reserves apartments for low- and middle-income tenants.

Initial rents for the low-income units range from $398 per month for studios up to $652 for two-bedroom apartments. Units are reserved for households with an annual income ranging from $15,920 to $31,400. (Incomes vary within these bounds depending on apartment size and family size).
