RE: CU's 197-c Certification and CB9M's 197-a Referral for Public Review

As most of you know from various sources the CU's 197-c Certification and CB9M's 197-a Referral for Public Review has ben changed from the June 4th to the June 18th Agenda of the City Planning Commission thus we have 2 extra weeks.

As you know I had asked postponement to late August and expected no change - so we'll take the two weeks and make the most of it. I am not happy about it and still feel that both our Board and our community are being sacrificed in the altar of expediency and the might of the lobbying dollars. I believe it shows contempt for the Community Board's role and total lack of respect for our community.

However as Westharlemites we are used to the short-end of the stick and always managed to hold firmly and beat them with that short stick.

So, when things get tough the tough gets going. I will ask the Executive Committee to cancel the Summer Hiatus but will excuse Committees not essential for the ULURP and Public Review process from meeting during July and August.

Patricia Jones and Yvonne Stennett will Co-Chair both the ULURP and Public Review and will schedule meetings, training sessions and Public Hearings as necessary and conveninet and the District Manager and Staff will facilitate their needs on a priority basis.

Remember that this is a dual track process, a ULURP for CU's 197-c Plan and a Public Review of CB9M's 197-c Plan. as both will be considered concurrently by the City Planning Commission.

CB9M is tentatively scheduled to make a presentation of our 197-a Plan before the City Planning Commission on July 23rd, this will be confirmed later with place and time. Committees have up to June 30th to review and suggest adjustments to their sections of the 197-a to the 197-a Plan Committee.
