DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION COMMUNITY EDUCATION COUNCIL,

CITYWIDE COUNCIL ON HIGH SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES THEIR JANUARY 12, 2005 BUSINESS AND CALENDAR MEETING

WITH SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER JOEL I. KLEIN, CHANCELLOR

TOPIC: HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The Citywide Council on High Schools announces their Business and Calendar Meeting on January 12, 2005, at Jamaica High School in Region 3. Jamaica High School is located at 167-01 Gothic Drive, Queens N.Y. Business Meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and Calendar Meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Citywide Council on High Schools, with elected Parent Representatives from each Region and a Citywide Student Representative, advises the New York Department of Education on High School Policies and makes recommendations to improve conditions in our high schools.

The CCHS January 12th, meeting will have special guest speaker Joel I. Klein, Chancellor. A public forum for questions and comments from Parents, Students, and Community Members for the Chancellor will follow.

All members of the public are encouraged to accept this invitation and attend this meeting in support of High School improvement. In addition, the announcements are being distributed to High Schools Parents through the Department of Education Parent Support Offices, PA/PTA Organizations, Community-Based Organizations, and Advertisements have been placed in publications, including major, local and ethnic newspapers.

Speakers are requested to: (1) limit their presentation to no longer than three minutes; (2) submit 14 written copies of their comments before they speak or submit the CCHS “Speaker’s Form” provided @ entrance or from the CCHS Administrative Assistant. Other speakers can be heard at the discretion of the Chair. DISCUSSION AND CHARGES RELATING TO THE COMPETENCE OR PERSONAL CONDUCT OF INDIVIDUALS WILL BE RULED OUT OF ORDER.
