Deadline to Register to Vote on Election Day is Fast Approaching

The deadline to register to vote on Election Day, November 2, 2004, is fast approaching!

Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight tomorrow, Friday, October 8.

There will also be local sites where voters can register in person on Saturday, October 9. To find those sites, please call your county boards of elections. The phone number for county boards of election can be found at the State Board of Elections website, www.elections.state.ny.us, or you can call 1-800-FOR-VOTE.

Voter registration forms are available at county boards of elections as well as many post offices, libraries and state agency offices throughout New York . Internet users may download a registration form by clicking on Voting on the State Board's web site at http://www.elections.state.ny.us/.

This year is not only the Presidential election also half US Senate and all US Congressional, State Senate and State Assembly seats will be on the ballot, as well as candidates for State Supreme Court in most judicial districts. We need your help spreading the word about the upcoming voter registration deadline.

REMINDER : Voters who will be out of their county on Election Day, November 2, 2004, or will be unable to go to the polls on Election Day because of illness or physical disability, may vote by absentee ballot .

Voters will receive an absentee ballot after they complete an application and mail it to their county board of elections no later than Tuesday, October 26 or hand deliver it by Monday, November 1.

Applications for absentee ballots are available at any county board of elections. Internet users can download an application by clicking on "Absentee Voting" on the New York State Board of Elections web site, http://www.elections.state.ny.us/.
