A little more than two years ago, Columbia unveiled its plans to
develop a new campus in Manhattanville as a long-term solution to
our critical space shortage. Our proposal calls for an open campus
integrated into the neighborhood: leaving all existing streets
open, widening them to improve views of the river and access to the
new waterfront park, adding new green space, facilitating pedestrian
traffic, and adding new retail, community service, and dining
options at ground level.

Discussions with faculty, students, and staff, as well as community
members, continue to shape Columbia's proposal. Outreach efforts
have included presentations and town meetings, more than a dozen
advisory committee meetings, and open houses on the Morningside and
University Medical Center campuses.

As the public process unfolds, you are encouraged to learn more
about the University's proposal. Please feel free to contact the
Office of Government and Community Affairs for more information,
campusplan@columbia.edu or 212-854-2871.

Thank you.
